BNY Mellon AM appoints Insight's Ten Cate as Netherlands director
NETHERLANDS - Lou ten Cate has been appointed as managing director of BNY Mellon Asset Management in the Netherlands.
In his new position, Ten Cate, 63, will be the local representative of the €1trn asset manager, tasked with presenting his company's range of capabilities to Dutch pension funds, he told IPE.
At present, BNY Mellon is custodian for approximately 30% of Dutch pension assets, and it handles asset management for almost a dozen Dutch pension funds.
Until recently, Ten Cate was local director at the €150bn UK investment manager Insight Investments, building up a clients base in the Netherlands.
The London-based company, which focuses on fixed income and liability-driven investments, was recently taken over by BNY Mellon.
Ten Cate, who described himself as a "generalist in pensions and asset management", was involved in the establishment of the postal pension fund PTT - the predecessor of the €12bn asset manager and pension provider TKP.
Subsequently, he was managing director of investment consultant for pension funds Investment Management Factory and co-founder and chief executive of the Swiss Re-supported fiduciary manager PensionFactory.
Before he joined Insight Investments, Ten Cate was also co-owner of the strategic advice bureau for pension funds Compendeon.
He started in his new position at BNY Mellon on 1 August.
