NETHERLANDS - Harry Borghouts has been appointed as the interim chairman of ABP pension fund, as Elco Brinkman (pictured, right) is stepping down after eight years in the role.

Borghouts is already on the executive board at ABP will take up the interim chairman's role at the national civil service pension fund on 1 April until a new chairman is appointed.

A spokesman for the €173bn pension fund said it is unclear how long it might take to appoint a new chairman as officials need to make sure they "find the right person".

Brinkman had held two terms of four years' of office as chairman, and will still be involved in the future of the ABP pension fund to some degree, as he will continue to act as chairman of the supervisory board at APG Group - the wholly-owned asset management subsidiary of ABP which is also responsible for the investment management and administration of ABP's assets.

Mariëtte Doornekamp and Pieter Oudenaarden will also joint the governing board from 1 April, and Willem Jelle Berg joined the employee committee on 1 April, so the new make-up of the pension fund's supervisory board will be:

On employer side:

Harry Borghouts (chairman) Prof. Le Blanc Mariëtte Doornekamp Mr. J.N. van Lunteren, Dr G.A.A. Verkerk, Dr Völkers
