UK – Britannic Group, which recently closed its retirement arm to new business, has named Graham Singleton as group finance director.

Singleton, formerly chief financial officer at Credit Suisse’s Winterthur UK Financial Services Group, takes the role vacated by Paul Thompson when he became Britannic’s chief executive in July.

“His experience and knowledge of our sector combined with his extensive actuarial and financial skills, make him ideally suited to the role,” Thompson said. Singleton’s appointment is effective on December 10.

Earlier this month insurer Britannic announced that it was to cease writing new business at Britannic Retirement Solutions – with all sales being concentrated through Britannic Asset Management.

It said the return on capital from the business was “not sufficiently attractive”.

Neil Cantle is the interim CFO at Winterthur UK Financial Services Group.
