NETHERLANDS - Marjolein Sol is resigning as CIO at Dutch pensions manager Syntrus Achmea.

After a year and a half in her present position, Sol asked to be relieved of her duties, according to Syntrus spokesman Erik van der Struijs.

He would not elaborate on her reasons for resigning other than to say they did not include personal reasons such as an illness.

Sol started in her role as CIO at Syntrus Achmea in May 2010.

Previously, she served as head of investment advice in the Netherlands for Mercer.

Her successor will be Rogier Krens, who will start in his new position on 1 January 2012.

Krens has been with Syntrus for several months, starting in March, as manager Treasury and Derivatives.

He previously worked for 12 years in London at various banks, starting his career at Rabobank in 1995.

Sol will stay on at Achmea Holding as senior adviser, and, in her new role, she will be involved with strategic projects.

Syntrus Achmea chief executive Hans Snijders said: "We thank Marjolein for her efforts and involvement in strengthening investment management.

"In Rogier, we have found an experienced manager from our own ranks who will further develop our position. I wish both of them much success in their new roles."
