EUROPE - Norbert Beiner has returned to Credit Suisse Asset Management to head its London-based European equities team.

"Norbert's responsibilities will include the management of a number of institutional mandates totalling some one billion pounds (1.4 billion euros) of assets," CSAM said in a statement.

He joins from Julius Baer Asset Management in Zurich, where he was the Fund Manager of international balanced portfolios. Before that he worked for four and a half years for CSAM in Zurich.

“We were sorry to lose him to Julius Baer,” said Jane Collins, CSAM’s co-head of institutional marketing. Beiner will report to Steve Goldman, head of equities, Europe. He will work alongside Alan Zlatar, who heads the Zurich-based equities team.

Collins added: "As part of a far reaching review of our European equity platform we are doing what you would expect any major group in our position to do and recruiting top calibre professionals.

“We are always seeking to improve performance and believe that Norbert has the proven credentials and ability to get results."

She said that CSAM has won mandates on the back of the strength of its analysts, though she declined to say which ones. CSAM has around 188.8 billion pounds under management.
