Credit Suisse strengthens fixed income teams

**Credit Suisse strengthens its European fixed income team**
UK/GERMANY/ITALY – Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM) has promoted three members of its European fixed income management teams based in London, Frankfurt and Milan.

Winifred Robbins has been appointed managing director, business head European fixed income in London, having been with CSAM for more than eight years, concentrating on single currency and convertible bonds.

Siegfried Cordes has been made director, head of fixed income in Frankfurt whilst Anna Guglielmetti has been promoted to the same position at CSAM’s Milan office. Cordes has been with CSAM since 1990 and Guglielmetti since 1995. Both are actively involved in decisions concerning investment strategy.


**Friends Ivory & Sime expands equity team**
UK – Friends, Ivory & Sime has added two new members to its strategy and global portfolio construction teams.

Tim Lee joins the strategy team as senior economist and Sophie Horsfall joins the global portfolio construction team as a fund manager.

Lee joins from Invesco, where he was a European economist. He has over 20 years experience in fund management. Horsfall joins from Dresdner RCM Global Investors, where she was a fund manager on the global equities team for five years.


**Mercer appoints new European principal**
UK – International consultancy firm, William M. Mercer, has appointed Lluis Solervicens as European principal to its London based team.

Solervicens will be responsible for the development of new consultancy services for the effective use of HR technology. He joins Mercer from Accenture, where he was UK human performance technology team leader in its global business solutions unit.


**Mellon expands FX research team**
UK/US – Mellon Financial Corporation has added two new senior researchers to its foreign exchange teams.

Ian Gunner will lead Mellon’s London based foreign exchange research team, whilst Peter Cera will be chief portfolio strategist for the global foreign exchange unit in Boston.

Gunner joins Mellon from ABN Amro, where he was senior foreign exchange strategist and Cera joins from State Street, where he was senior strategist.


**Duke Street strengthens financial control team**
UK – Pan-European fund management group, Duke Street Capital (DSC), has made two senior appointments to its financial control team.

John Hudson, who joined DSC as finance director in 1999, will become director with responsibility for financial control of DSC investee companies.

Jeffrey Belkin will be group financial controller and director. Belkin joins from Schroders, where he was in charge of group management accounting until 2000 before becoming head of finance for its venture fund company, Schroder Finance Partners.


**If appoints new chief investment officer**
SWEDEN – Swedish insurance group, If P&C Insurance, has named Nils Henriksson as chief investment officer (CIO) and head of the newly formed investment business unit following its merger with the P&C insurance operations of Sampo.

Henriksson is currently head of corporate finance at If, having been with the company since it was created in 1999. Prior to that, he was group treasurer at Skandia.


**Zurich appoints new member to group executive committee**
SWITZERLAND – Zurich Financial Services has appointed Axel P. Lehmann to its group executive committee as chief executive officer (CEO) of its continental Europe business division.

Lehmann replaces Peter Eckert who is taking a step up to become group chief operating officer in March.

Lehmann has been with Zurich since 1996 and his current position is CEO of Northern Europe region and Zurich Group Germany, a position he will continue to hold.


**EquiLend expands management team**
US – Global New York based securities consortium, EquiLend, has appointed Brent Bessire as chief operating officer (COO) and Benjamin Glicher as chief technology officer (CTO).

Bessire will be responsible for formalising the company’s infrastructure. He joins EquiLend from IntlTrader, where he was COO and managing director.

Glicher’s mandate at EquiLend is to develop the company’s technological platform. He joins from PricewaterhouseCoopers LCC Financial Services Technology division, where he managed and coordinated teams of analysts and developers.
