EUROPE - Credit Suisse Asset Management has named Insight Investments' Mark Burgess as global co-head of equities, focusing on Europe and Asia.
CSAM said Burgess would "be responsible for the management of all equities in Europe, Asia Pacific, all multi-country equity products, and balanced portfolios". He will work with the other co-head, US-based Greg Sawers.
Insight, which has announced a revamp of its own equities team, said it is looking for a replacement for Burgess in the head of equities role.
"Mark is a highly skilled professional with a strong track record of international oversight and management," said Michael Kenneally, CSAM's chairman and chief executive. Burgess will be based in London and report to Kenneally. He will join CSAM's global executive committee.
Separately, Insight said that Crispin Cripwell and Steven Wheeler, the head of US and Japanese equities respectively, would leave, as would UK team member Charles Deptford. This follows a merger of its US, Japanese and Asian desks into one team under David Marchant.
It said the moves follow a review of its equity investment "platform" after it bought Rothschild Asset Management in January 2003. It said the review highlighted the need for greater coordination between teams.
