GERMANY - Volker Potthoff, managing director of banking and custody services at Deutsche Börse, has resigned to “pursue new activities”.
Potthoff, 51, will leave the exchange group from June 30 after nearly 12 years. He’ll work as a consultant until that date. Potthoff was also a member of the group executive management at the exchange’s Clearstream settlement and custody arm.
Deutsche Börse said he was leaving by mutual consent.
“Volker Potthoff has made a considerable contribution to the company’s success in the various management positions he has held within Deutsche Börse Group,” said chief executive Reto Francioni.
Clearstream International CEO Jeff Tessler added: “In the period that Volker was responsible for Clearstream, he helped build momentum in the company’s client focus and Asian operations in particular.”
Potthoff joined Deutsche Börse as general counsel in 1994 and become a member of the executive board in 2000.
Earlier this month Clearstream said the number of monthly international transactions processed in 2005 rose 19% to 1.81m. Domestic settlement transactions in Germany were up 14%.
And the value of assets held under custody on behalf of customers rose 15% to €8.75trn.
