GLOBAL - Milliman Global has added Dutch employee benefits consultant HV&P to its global network of independent actuarial and consulting firms, it was announced today.

The Milliman network includes firms such as Fixage in France and Aktuarene in Norway.

The US firm chose the Amsterdam-based consultant as its partner to expand into the Dutch market in January.

HV&P, according to HV&P spokesman Jeroen Hilbrands, was chosen from a six-strong shortlist. It provides a range of mainly pensions but also employee benefits services to pension funds, the corporate sector, and insurance companies.

"Our specialist areas of expertise are valuation of employee benefits according to (international) accounting standards, certifying pension funds, and consulting on funding requirements and forecasting of expenses," said Pieter van Schijndel of HV&P.

Milliman, which is globally represented in nearly 100 principal cities, commented: "The firm has already proven quite valuable to Milliman Global."

Hilbrands said that in the course of the next year HV&P, together with Milliman, will be looking to expand also into insurance advice activities, therefore the firm is also looking for new recruits.

Under the Milliman umbrella, the firms in the global network offer a "broad range of financial consulting services, relating to employee benefits, investment, insurance, and healthcare to a full spectrum of business and governmental clients," according to the corporation.
