EUROPE – The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs is likely to discuss pensions reform when it meets in January.

The committee is likely to discuss the European Council of Ministers’ revised proposals on European Union pension reform – the so-called ‘common position’, at its next meeting, which is scheduled for January 20-21, said Ursula Schallabock, the assistant to Austrian MEP Othmar Karas. Karas is the committee’s rapporteur for the directive.

The information has not yet been added to the agenda on the parliament’s website, she added. Karas gave his initial views on the proposals to the committee on December 2.
