US SPECIAL/EUROPE – Europe’s stock exchanges are to observe a three minute silence and simultaneous cessation of trading at 12pm CET today, in line with the decision by the European Union to hold a day of mourning today, following Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in the US.

In London all FTSE indices were held for three minutes beginning at 11am BST, with all FTSE client services desks and press offices worldwide observing the three-minute silence.

Deutsche Börse and Eurex observed the three minute silence at 12 pm CET.
Both exchanges requested that no trading be carried out at all during the three-minute silence and that index tracking be interrupted for the DAX, MDAX and Neuer Markt.
