UK – Fidelity Investments has appointed Julian Webb as head of business development for its UK defined contribution business.

He takes a role left vacant by the departure of Tim Banks in February and will report to Phil de Cristo, managing director, DC Europe. Fidelity said Webb joins from Friends Provident where he was head of corporate pension sales responsible for DC.

“We have seen a substantial increase in new business opportunities and a high conversion rate of prospects to clients,” said de Cristo. “His previous experience of devising and implementing strategies to develop DC business will ensure we continue the existing momentum.”

He said the firm was making “considerable investments” to prepare for further growth in the UK and that Webb would work alongside Colin Williams, executive director for the DC business.
