BENELUX/US - Fortis Investment Management has appointed Charles Burbeck of Schroders as head of global equity investments, to be based in Boston.

The new investment centre handling Fortis IM’s global equity investments was established in Boston in October last year as a result of growing business in global and multi-regional equity mandates.

Says Richard Wohanka, chief executive officer: “We believe that by concentrating all the capabilities of our company in one place, Boston, under Charles' leadership we will realise our substantial ambitions in this core product.

“Moreover, we are committed to a distinctly bottom-up investment style, one which Charles developed successfully over the last five years at his previous employer, and complements Fortis IM’s other equity investment centres in Europe.”

Burbeck takes on the newly created role as head of global equity investments with immediate effect, and will have a team of four reporting to him. Prior to joining Fortis IM, Burbeck worked at Schroders Investment Management in portfolio management and research.

Burbeck reports to chief investment officer William de Vijlder, who oversees Fortis IM’s other equity investment centres in Europe and the US.

Fortis IM, part of Netherlands-based Fortis Bank, has 70 billion euros in assets under management, or which 12.2 billion euros are European pension fund assets.
