GLOBAL - Jackal Advisory, Begbies Traynor Group, European Fund and Asset Management Association, Hymans Robertson, Ignis Asset Management, State Street Global Advisors, Threadneedle

Jackal Advisory - Simon Kew and Michael O'Connor have recently joined, as senior manager and partner, respectively. Kew spent three years at the Pensions Regulator (TPR), where he held a number of roles in scheme funding, pension administration and governance and finally as government relations manager, liaising between the regulator and various government departments. O'Connor has two decades of experience as an insolvency practitioner and has much experience in providing covenant advice to employers and trustees of defined benefit schemes. Additionally, he spent a year at TPR responsible for approval of valuations and clearance applications.

Begbies Traynor Group - Christopher Clayton, who previously was managing director at Close Brothers Corporate Finance, as well as head of the pensions advisory group, joins the company as a partner. As part of the London-based pension advisory team, he will work with Len Fawke, who joined the company from the UK Pensions Regulator last year.

European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) - The organisation has named Jarkko Syyrilä as its first deputy director-general in charge of regulatory activities. Syyrilä has spent the last six years working for the Committee of European Securities Regulators, where he was also first rapporteur of the Expert Group on Investment Management. He holds a masters degree from the University of Helsinki and spent 10 years at the Finnish financial supervision authority Finanssivalvonta.

Hymans Robertson
- Alison Clark joins the consultancy's manager research team and will focus on hedge funds and alternative sectors in her work. Clark has previously worked in funds of hedge funds for Olympia Capital Management.

Ignis Asset Management - The former chief investment officer for UK and European equities at Allianz RCM, Mark Lovett, will join as chief investment officer for equities, starting 4 October. While at Allianz, Lovett was also chairman of the company's asset allocation committee. He has worked for Baring Asset Management, Fleming Asset Management and Morgan Grenfell Asset Management over the course of his career.

State Street Global Advisors - Scott Ebner joins from NYSE Euronext as managing director and global head of exchange-traded funds product development. At NYSE Euronext, Ebner was senior vice-president and global head of ETF products and has also worked at the American Stock Exchange, where he was senior vice-president of the ETF market.

Threadneedle - Vanessa Donegan, a founding member of the company's investment team in 1994, has been named head of Asia and global emerging markets. In her new role, she will continue to oversee Asia Pacific equities, her previous area of responsibility, as well as take responsibility for a number of emerging market equity funds. Julian Thompson, the former head of emerging market equities, will be leaving the company.
