GLOBAL - Mercer, Dutch Pensions Federation, Pension Protection Fund, BNY Mellon, Henderson, AllianceBernstein

Mercer - Paul Macro has been appointed head of defined contribution at the consultancy’s UK retirement business. He joins from Towers Watson, where he was a senior consultant and member of the DC management team. Before then, he worked for Aon Consulting as head of UK DC propositions. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Dutch Pensions Federation - Richard Pauw is to be appointed the federation’s new public affairs manager from 1 March. He is currently a policy adviser for public and European affairs at pensions provider Syntrus Achmea. At the Dutch Pensions Federation, he succeeds Frans Prins, who has been appointed director of the €5bn pension fund PWRI.

UK Pension Protection Fund (PPF) - Mike O’Brien has been co-opted as an independent adviser to the PPF’s investment committee. Working in a personal capacity, he has been co-opted for three years and will provide advice to the two non-executive and two executive committee members. PPF chairman Lady Barbara Judge said she wanted to make sure the PPF had “sufficient independent investment knowledge” on its committee.

BNY Mellon - Vince Sands has been named deputy chief executive of BNY Mellon Asset Servicing, reporting to Tim Keaney, vice-chairman and chief executive at Asset Servicing. Samir Pandiri, previously chief executive at Shareowner Services, will replace Sands. Lou Maiuri, previously head of outsourcing, has been named head of the Global Financial Institutions business, taking over from Nadine Chakar, who becomes global head of the Derivatives360sm business.

Henderson - Jim Irvine is set to take over from Mitesh Sheth as head of the asset manager’s fixed income business. Irvine, who currently heads structured products and advisory at Henderson, will start in his new role on 1 February. Sheth has been appointed director of business innovation, while Colin Fleury, currently head of asset backed securities, will take over for Irvine.
 
AllianceBernstein - Timothy Ryan, currently the company’s chief executive in Japan - has been appointed chief executive for UK operations, effective 1 March. He will also take on the role of co-head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), along with Richard Haxe, who currently leads the client services, sales and marketing efforts for AllianceBernstein’s EMEA client group.
