Aviva InvestorsEuan Munro has been appointed chief executive, joining from Standard Life Investments (SLI), where he has served as global head of multi-asset investing and fixed income since 2008. Munro, who established SLI's Global Absolute Return Strategy, was responsible for managing the assets of Standard Life Assurance Company and SLI's fixed income and multi-asset investment funds.

UK Pensions Regulator – Industry veteran Bob Swarup, principal at Camdor Global, has been appointed as an investment adviser at the UK pensions watchdog. Swarup, formerly a senior partner at the Pension Corporation, is to advise TPR over the next few months on the development of its investment guidance and framework for UK pension funds.

National Association of Pension FundsRobert Brown of Towers Watson has been elected chair of the defined benefit council, while Lesley Williams of Whitbread has been appointed chair of the defined contribution council. Brown is a senior investment consultant and chairman of Towers Watson's global investment committee. Williams is group pensions director at Whitbread, and is responsible for corporate pensions strategy and the operation of the pension fund and its investments. Both take up their new positions on 18 October.

GSW ImmobilienJochen Scharpe, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of German property rental firm, has announced he is to resign "for personal reasons" on 31 December. Recently, Eckart John von Freyend, supervisory chairman, and chief executive Bernd Kottmann resigned following a shareholders revolt – led by asset manager PGGM – about the appointment process of Kottmann. Scharpe has been on the supervisory board since March 2010. He is also chairman of the audit committee, a member of the executive committee of the supervisory board and a member of the nomination committee.

Russell InvestmentsMark Clark has been appointed director of responsible investment. Clark joined Russell in 1995 and has held several positions, most recently as a director in Russell's Pensions Solutions Group. In addition to his new role, he will continue to chair the Russell Sustainability Council.

Pensions Management InstituteRobert Branagh of Moorlands Human Capital, Elizabeth Harvey of Mercer and Chris Parrott of Heathrow Airport Holdings have been appointed to the PMI's Council. Standing down by rotation from Council are Susan Andrews, Martin Good and Wallace Law.
