UK - Gartmore Investment Management has named Invesco UK’s Angus Woolhouse as head of business development for its global institutional and alternative investments business, spanning the US, Europe and Japan.

Woolhouse was group marketing and product development director at Invesco. His position has been taken by Rick White, a spokesman said.

In his new role, Woolhouse will be responsible for all business development and strategy and client relationship management within Gartmore's newly merged institutional and alternatives businesses.

“Angus brings almost 12 years of high-level marketing and investment industry experience to Gartmore,” the asset manager said in a statement.

The business is headed by Charles Beazley, global head of institutional and alternative investments.

Beazley said: "This is a great coup at a key time for Gartmore. Angus has a formidable blend of marketing and investment industry experience and expertise and we are delighted to have attracted somebody of his undoubted pedigree.”

He added that institutional investors were increasingly talking to Gartmore “irrespective of whether it is long-only or long-short investing”.

“By bringing together the businesses under one umbrella and through the hiring of talented professionals like Angus, we are demonstrating our commitment to meeting the current and future needs of our clients."

A spokesman for Gartmore told IPE that Woolhouse’s appointment was the first of a series of “big appointments” planned in the next few months.
