Goldman Sachs Asset Management has appointed Ruud Hendriks – a former senior vice president at Robeco Institutional Asset Management in the Netherlands – to head up institutional marketing in continental Europe – as part of a move which will see the group split its European marketing efforts into three regions: UK, Germany/Austria and continental Europe.

Hendriks, who formerly headed up global institutional sales at Robeco, will now lead a team of five to eight people already working in the region for Goldman.
The group says the team will particularly focus on both the Dutch and Swiss markets in its marketing push.

Institutional marketing in the Middle East will also come under the remit of Hendriks’ team.

Ted Sotir, managing director and co-head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s European operations, comments: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ruud Hendriks. His market knowledge, experience and institutional relationships will prove invaluable in helping us to increase our penetration into the continental European marketplace and continue to grow the institutional business.
“ In 2000, in Europe, Goldman Sachs had the highest level of business wins for an active manager and we more than doubled our business in 2000.”
