Hamich is new STOXX MD

Index group STOXX has named Dow Jones’ Lars Hamich as its new managing director – the fourth holder of the job since the end of 2002.
Hamich, 35, is executive director of global business development at Dow Jones Indexes. He takes over from Elizabeth von Werra, who joined the joint venture between Deutsche Börse, Dow Jones and SWX Swiss Exchange last September.
Von Werra, formerly a fund manager at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch, has now joined UBS Wealth Management in Zurich.
Hamich’s appointment follows the departure of Scott Stark on 31 December 31. Stark was replaced on an interim basis by SWX Swiss Exchange’s Ettore Candolfi.
Von Werra’s appointment was seen as important because she represented index users. In an interview with IPE in December, Mike Petronella, the head of Dow Jones Indexes/Electronic Ventures, said STOXX was in “very good hands” with von Werra.
“Lars brings to STOXX unparalleled experience in the index business,” Petronella says. His track record of developing new business opportunities, his keen business sense and his understanding of financial market uniquely qualify Lars for the position.”
