EUROPE – John Godden, managing director of Hedge Fund Research’s European asset management arm, has left the company.

A spokeswoman confirmed that the high-profile Godden has departed the Chicago-based firm’s HFR Asset Management. She said it was a “completely amicable” split and that it was likely that Godden, a former Barclays Capital executive, would resurface at some point.

It is unclear who would take over, with reports suggesting Swiss business chief Marc Denogent would get the job.

Godden is a well-known advocate for hedge funds within the UK pension industry. He was set to share a platform at the National Association of Pension Funds’ annual investment conference in Edinburgh alongside the NAPF’s Geoff Lindey, the FSA’s Dan Waters and Watson Wyatt’s Nick Watts in March.

HFR was founded in 1993 and provides hedge fund databases and indices.
