Eleven asset management firms were rewarded for excellence in institutional asset management performance at the inaugural IPE-EDHEC Institutional Asset Management Awards (IAMA) in June.

A new range of awards was unveiled at a ceremony in Paris to acknowledge the quality of asset management returns for institutional investors.

Telekurs Financial's EuroPerformance analysed the asset management companies' performance, assessing active portfolio management (alpha), long-term allocation choices (beta) and the risk management. Five of the 16 awards initially
proposed - all within the bond categories - were dropped because no company achieved alpha in 2007 according to the IPE-EDHEC criteria.

An advisory committee of 12 representatives from Europe's pension fund industry validated the rules and methodology of the IAMAs
