IPE QUEST: Lærernes in Japan search
DENMARK - The DKK24.5bn (€3.3bn) Danish Teachers' Pension and Life (Lærernes Pension) is looking for a Japanese equities manager using IPE-QUEST.
The $50m (€37.5m) Japanese equity mandate is currently held by Danish asset manager Bankinvest.
Lærernes wants to review the mandate without aiming to change its size or style and Bankinvest will be allowed to re-tender.
"We want to make sure that we have the best manager for Japanese equities," Anders Bertramsen, portfolio manager at Lærernes explained to IPE.
Bertramsen said the fund will also be reviewing other parts of its equity investments soon.
This Japan mandate will be benchmarked either against the MSCI Japan Index, with net dividends reinvested, the Topix or the Nikke and will most likely be packaged in a Danish mutual fund solution, Lærernes noted.
Interested managers should have a track record of at least three years.
Short selling and leverage are prohibited, the fund stated. It will also exclude dedicated small cap products.
The search for a Japanese equity manager (QN 814) will close on June 20.
