Wolters Kluwer, the Dutch publishing giant has appointed Barclays Global Investors (BGI) to manage a new Dfl80m (e36m) euro-based mandate, taking advantage of the launch of the first eurozone index Emu fund. The mandate follows a restructuring of Kluwer’s existing portfolio, which involved a transition from a customised 10-country European MSCI strategy.
The new index provides investors with exposure to the indexed equity markets of Emu countries. Hans Derricks, director of the Wolters Kluwers fund, says: “Following the introduction of the euro at the beginning of the year, we have been looking for an investment strategy that gave us an integrated exposure to the eurozone markets. BGI came up with an innovative solution to our requirements and in doing so have achieved a first for the industry.”
