UK – KPMG partner Tom Brown has been appointed as the firm’s UK head of investment management and funds.

Brown, 42, takes over the UK section from global head David Ledster, who has retired after more than 20 years at KPMG. Brown’s new position has been added to his responsibilities as partner in the investment management practice.

He will represent the UK firm on KPMG’s global investment management and funds network, a statement said.

Brown - based mainly in London but also Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol - will lead a 200-strong team. They will provide tax, audit and advisory services.

Brown joined KPMG in 1987, and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990. He works with the Investment Management Association and Alternative Investment Management Association on regulatory and other industry issues.

In other news, KPMG Pensions principal consultant Finlay Ross has left to join Buck Consultants as a senior investment consultant.

He will initially be based in the London head office before moving permanently to the Edinburgh office. Finlay will be responsible for providing clients with investment advice, investment manager selection and performance monitoring.
