UK - Lane Clark & Peacock partner Ian Ellis has been hired by Mellon Financial Corporation’s Human Resources & Investor Solutions, HR&IS, as principal and senior consulting actuary.

Ellis left LCP a few weeks after his former colleague Francis Fernandes – who was head of pensions research at LCP – left to join ABN Amro. Ellis and Fernandes were both appointed partners at the same time in 2001.

“We are delighted Ian has joined Mellon as part of our plans to further develop our business in the Thames Valley area,” said Eddie O’Hara, European managing director at HR&IS.

“Ian brings a wealth of practical experience to us and will be involved in our business development plans, as well as advising our present client base.”

Ellis, who started at Mellon on August 31, has more than 20 years’ experience of pensions account management and consulting, will be based primarily in the Reading office, Mellon said.

A spokesman for LCP, part of the Alexander Forbes Group, stated: "Few partners ever leave LCP to work for a competitor, however on occasion a partner is attracted by other opportunities and in such cases we always wish them the very best, as we do with Ian.”

“We have already made an external appointment as his replacement,” the spokesman added. That person would be named later.
