GLOBAL - Legal & General Investment Management has named Gartmore's Roger Bartley as its new global head of fixed income.

Bartley was formerly chief investment officer for fixed income at Gartmore Investment Management, LGIM said. He will head a team managing more than £80bn (euro) of assets.

The company also announced that it is establishing a new US investment grade fixed income team in Chicago, to be headed by John Bender.

He is the former head of US Investment Grade fixed income at Aegon, LGIM said.

"Both Roger and John have wide experience of running successful high performing fixed income teams and have the ability to lead LGIM in the next phase of our growth," said LGIM chief executive Peter Chambers.

Bartley added: "The challenge for the future is to build upon LGIM's success to date in fixed income and to enhance our position as a manager of Institutional and Retail fixed income assets."
