GLOBAL - BESTrustees, APG, UNPRI, Aberdeen AM, Royal London, RBC Dexia Investor Services, Mayfair Capital Investment Management, Green Property Alliance

BESTrustees - Peter Godding has joined BESTrustees as an associate, effective immediately. Before joining the company, he was a senior partner at Mercer, a position he retired from at the end of 2010. His responsibilities there covered the operational aspects of Mercer’s Retirement, Risk and Finance business, with particular focus on risk control and mitigation. Over a career spanning 35 years, he has consulted with both corporate and trustee clients on all aspects of pension scheme design, financing and administration.

APG - Rob Lake, APG’s head of sustainability and governance, has joined the United Nation’s Principles for Responsible Investment. From 16 May, Lake will assume the position of director of strategic development. APG has yet to name a successor. Lake worked for Henderson Global Investors as head of corporate engagement prior to joining APG four years ago and has also worked at Traidcraft Exchange as head of policy. He will be responsible for a number of UNPRI’s day-to-day activities, including its academic and public policy networks, as well as signatory outreach.

Aberdeen Asset Management - Andrew McCaffery has joined the asset manager as head of institutional hedge funds. He will form part of the senior management team - alongside Graham Duce and Aidan Kearney - for the entire hedge fund and long-only multi-manager business. McCaffery previously worked at BlueCrest, where he was a founder member of Alignment Investors. He joined BlueCrest in 2008 following two years as head of absolute return strategies at Aberdeen, having previously been chief executive of Attica Alternative Investments in London, a fund of hedge funds business.

Royal London - Andrew Palmer has joined the UK-based mutual life and pensions company’s board as a non-executive director. Palmer was previously group finance director of Legal & General Group, where he had also held a number of financial and operational roles in the asset management, insurance and international businesses. He is currently senior independent director at SEGRO and a non-executive director at RBS Insurance. He is also a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Financial Reporting Council.

RBC Dexia Investor Services - Mauro Dognini has joined as managing director for Italy, subject to regulatory approval. He joins from BNP Paribas Securities Services, where he was global head of asset managers and asset owners solutions, based in Paris. Before then, he was deputy general manager at BNP Paribas Securities Services Italy for more than a decade.

Mayfair Capital Investment Management - Stephen Musgrave has joined the UK property fund manager as its new chairman, taking over for David Larkin, who is retiring from the role. Musgrave has held a number of senior positions in the commercial property world, most recently as managing director at Hines UK. Prior to that, he was chief executive at Grosvenor for the UK and Ireland, and before then, joint managing director at London Capital Holdings.

Green Property Alliance - Bill Hughes, managing director at Legal & General Property, has assumed the chairmanship of the Green Property Alliance, taking over from Martin Moore (PRUPIM). Before joining Legal & General, Hughes was UK head of real estate at RREEF, the property fund management business of Deutsche Bank. The Green Property Alliance, an offshoot of the Property Industry Alliance, is an umbrella organisation for a collection of property member organisations that collaborate to achieve a “more sustainable built environment”.
