ITALY - Adelaide Consulting, the executive remuneration adviser set up by Piero Marchettini and Claudio Pinna, has been sold to Hewitt for an undisclosed sum.

Hewitt acquired the small Rome-based firm specialising in benefits and compensation services to "boost its capabilities" in Italy, a spokesman told IPE.

The global consultancy had an office in Milan with four employees, but no representative in Rome. Adelaide has three employees in the Rome office who are going to be taken on board by Hewitt.

IPE understands that Marchettini, who founded Adelaide in 1996 and now lives in Geneva, will focus on corporate governance consulting, providing his services through Hewitt. The name Adelaide will be kept for his Geneva operations.

His partner Claudio Pinna will head Hewitt's Italian operations following the retirement of Guido Blasco. "I am very pleased to be joining Hewitt," Pinna commented.  By combining Adelaide Consulting's actuarial ability with Hewitt's HR consulting expertise, we are now able to offer our multinational clients a far greater range of services, as well as global knowledge and capabilities."

"Hewitt has operated in Italy for 17 years, and, as the market continues to expand, Claudio and his team's expertise and knowledge will make a major impact for our clients in Italy and across the rest of Europe," explained Roger Parkin, European head of consulting for Hewitt.
