Mellon Global Investments (MGI), the distributor for Mellon’s asset management subsidiaries in markets outside the US, has appointed Simon Wombwell as head of pan-European retail sales to spearhead its expansion into Europe.

Wombwell was previously managing director of the UK retail division at the Newton Group, one of Mellon’s asset management subsidiaries.

In his new role he will be responsible for all of the European sales managers at MGI including Newton in the UK.

Says Jon Little, head of global sales at MGI: "Mellon Global Investments recognises the huge potential for growth that exists in the European asset management business and we are pleased that Simon has agreed to spearhead our sales initiative across this market.

"We intend to position Mellon at the forefront of this expanding market and Simon and his team will be key to this."
