UK - Mellon Financial's Newton arm has named Mark Scott as head of its institutional business.

"In this newly created role, Scott will be responsible for leading and developing the company's UK institutional sales, marketing and client servicing strategy," Newton Investment Management said in a statement. He will report to chief executive Helena Morrissey.

It said he was formerly at Deutsche Asset Management where he was head of European institutional sales and marketing. Before that he was senior vice president at Putnam Investments. He has also held senior positions at Watson Wyatt & Co.

"Mark's impressive track record in asset management, and extensive experience and knowledge of the investment consulting industry, align perfectly with our aims of strengthening relationships with the industry's leading investment consulting firms, and deepening the understanding of Newton's distinct investment philosophy and approach," Morrissey said.
