UK – Consultant William M. Mercer has beaten off competition from Watson Wyatt and Hymans Robertson to retain the mandate for actuarial and investment consultancy to the Liverpool based £20bn (e32bn) Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), following a review of the scheme’s providers.
USS, established in 1975, is the principal pension fund for academic and non-academic staff in UK universities and other higher education and research institutions.
Rachel Eyres, head of Mercer’s retirement unit in Liverpool, comments: “ We are, of course absolutely delighted with the outcome of this review.
“ USS is a very prestigious client bearing in mind its fund size and reputation in the UK pensions marketplace.”
