NETHERLANDS - Olaf Sleijpen, head of institutional clients at APG, will depart the asset manager next year and join De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), where he will become head of pension fund and investment company supervision.

Sleijpen, who assumed the role in mid-2008 following the merger between Cordares and the APG, has previously held the position of director of strategy and policy.

He succeeds Femke de Vries, who occupied the position since 2009. As divisional director, she will be responsible for the creation of a new supervision directorate in the DNB.

De Vries fills the vacancy created by the departure of Rudi Kleijwegt for Rabobank, where he will start on 1 May 2011. "In accordance with the rules and with immediate effect, Kleijwegt has ceased supervisory activities at DNB," the supervisor said in a statement.

According to DNB's spokesman Kees Verhagen, De Vries' new division stands alongside existing directorates and will specialise in supervision in problem situations.

APG was founded by the €230bn civil servant fund ABP, which recently saw its coverage ratio fall to 94% despite returns of close to 6% in the third quarter of the year.
