UK – The Bank of New York has made two senior UK appointments: Peter Christmas and Mark Westwell.

Its Pershing arm, which provides clearing services, has named BNP Paribas Securities Services' Christmas as chief relationship officer.

He started on May 3 and succeeds Trevor Jones, who will retire at the end of 2005. Christmas will be responsible for new business development in Europe.

He was previously UK head of sales and relationship management at BNP Paribas Securities Services. He has also worked at Mellon Bank, State Street Bank and Trust Co. and JP Morgan & Co. BNP Paribas confirmed Christmas had left the company, but was not available for further information.

Last month BNP Paribas Securities Services appointed IBM UK's Kay Hayre to the role of global relationship manager covering financial intermediaries.

The bank has also named Mark Westwell as senior client executive in the UK fund managers’ client management team. He will be based in London and report to Daron Pearce. He was previously with J P Morgan Chase, it added.
