EUROPE – Stan Beckers, global head of investments for WestLB Asset Management, has left the company.

Beckers joined as global head of investments in April 2000, leaving his role as president of BARRA International, where he had been since 1982.

At WestAM, he was responsible for the investment teams in Duesseldorf, London, Paris, Houston and Tokyo, chiefly focusing on the investment processes and risk management of WestAM’s acquisitions.

Overseeing his role on an interim basis will be global chief executive officer, Luke Nunneley. Commenting on Beckers’ departure, Nunneley said that, “as the acquisition period ended at the end of 2000, much of Beckers’ role in the investment process had been completed, and had been adapted to more of business and people management role.” Beckers therefore decided to pursue an opportunity elsewhere with a European family-run business, selecting investment managers, and looking after assets, added Nunneley.

There are no plans for a direct replacement as yet, confirmed a spokeswoman at WestAM.

WestAM is part of the WestLB group, and at December 31, 2002, managed a total of 39 billion dollars.
