BELGIUM- Belgium’s Council of Ministers is meeting tomorrow to pass the final three fiscal amendments to the country’s new occupational pensions legislation.

Henk Becquaert, an advisor to the minister of pensions, says there are three points the council needs to agree before the legislation can clear parliament and head to the upper house.

On Friday the Council agreed on twenty two of the twenty five proposed fiscal amendments. Since then the legislation has returned to the technical working group which has now agreed on two of the remaining three outstanding points.

The remaining amendment applies to the creation of individual pensions in the second pillar and is seen largely as a political issue. Becquaert says it is not that important which way the coucil votes and he is confident that the legislation will be passed tomorrow.
