UK - BNP Paribas appointed Tony Osborn-Barker as global head of pensions. He joins from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in London where he was head of investment services since 2000.

His role will be to develop and manage the bank's pension business. "The pensions team provides technical support to clients on pensions issues and co-ordinates the bank's approach across all business lines, as well as providing coverage of actuarial consultants," the bank said.

Osborn-Barker will report to Mark Azzopardi, head of Insurance & Pensions within Fixed Income's Global Risk Solutions Group (GRS).

"The role had been taken up by Mark Azzopardi but we wanted to have a better focus on pensions so we have hired someone to focus specifically on that and head up the team", a spokeswoman for BNP Paribas told IPE.

The pensions team at BNP Paribas provides technical support to clients on pensions issues and co-ordinates the bank's approach across all business lines, as well as providing coverage of actuarial consultants.

At  Deloitte Touche he provided investment consultancy services to  pensio funds and other instiutional investors, banks and insurance companies. Prior to that he was a a Euroean partner at consultants Mercer.

Deloitte Touche declined to comment on whether or not a replacement for Osborn-Barker had yet been found.
