NETHERLANDS- Cardano Risk Management, the Dutch derivatives and ALM research firm has appointed Eduard van Gelderen as a director responsible for marketing its products.

Van Gelderen joins from NIB Capital Asset Management where he was chief investment officer. Prior to taking on the NIB post he was director of European fixed income at ABP.

Cardano was launched in Sept 2000 by ORTEC, the Dutch asset liability consultant and IMC, a derivatives market maker in Amsterdam.

It specialises in risk management through the use of derivatives. Its two target clients are pension funds and building societies although it is also providing currency hedging for corporate treasuries.

Van Gelderen says that the first phase of the company’s launch and development is over. “We’re moving into a second phase where the focus will be on internal processes, account management and marketing,” he says.
