GLOBAL - Credit Suisse Asset Management says it has named Merrill Lynch’s Lawrence Haber as chief financial officer.

Haber joins on January 5 from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, where he was chief financial officer. He will report to CSAM chairman and chief executive Michael Kenneally. He will join CSAM’s global executive committee.

Haber will take over from CSAM’s interim CFO Joe Gallagher, who will become CSAM's global chief operating officer.

A spokeswoman for MLIM said Haber has not yet been replaced.

Kenneally said: “With Larry’s strong asset management credentials, broad-based financial services background, strategic orientation and international experience, he will play an important role in leveraging CSAM’s global pattern.”

He added: “His record of building strong organisations will serve us well as we pursue our objective of delivering superior investment performance to our clients.”

Haber said: “CSAM has tremendous resources and great growth potential around the world and I am excited by the prospect of working with Mike and the management team to build on CSAM’s success.”

Haber has been with Merrill for 20 years, the last six of which as CFO at MLIM.
