UK – London-based alternative asset management group, Fortune Asset Management, has appointed Peter Arkell and John McDonald as directors within its marketing team in London.

Arkell joins from Kleinwort Benson, where he was a fund manager in its equity division. Prior to that he was director of Asian products at Barclays de Zoete Wedd and has over 15 years experience altogether in the financial markets.

McDonald is a founding director of Fortune but left to develop an equity research boutique for a private hedge fund. He has previously worked at Morgan Grenfell, Warburg Securities and HSBC James Capel.

Simon Hopkins, managing director of Fortune, says the appointments were made in line with the company’s organic growth. “The merits of hedge fund investing have been vindicated recently and we are seeing interest from beyond the traditional realm of hedge fund investors for our products.”
