Trustees of the Lafarge UK Pension Plan and the Aggregate Industries Pension Plan have appointed Van Lanschot Kempen as their new fiduciary manager.

Both plans are sponsored by companies within the Holcim Group and have total assets of approximately £2.5bn (€2.9bn). The plans support retired staff and have over 20,000 members in total.

XPS Group led the selection process and the agreement was signed in October 2025, with Van Lanschot Kempen taking over fiduciary management of assets in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Under the arrangement, Van Lanschot Kempen delivers a fully bespoke fiduciary management service in close collaboration with the plans’ trustee and other advisors. The investment strategy is tailored to each plan and, in particular, the management of a significant portfolio of private markets assets.

Aligned with the Holcim Group’s focus on putting sustainability at the core of its strategy, Van Lanschot Kempen implements ESG considerations throughout the process.

Alan Baker, chair of trustees, said: “The Van Lanschot Kempen team distinguished themselves throughout the process, demonstrating their deep investment expertise and clear commitment to partnership. We were impressed by their strength in managing alternative asset classes in addition to the consideration shown for the long-term funding needs of each plan”

Erik van Houwelingen, member of the management board of Van Lanschot Kempen, responsible for investment management clients, said: “In today’s increasingly complex pensions landscape, we are committed to delivering as the challenger of choice, working with trustees in close partnership to address the specific requirements of their schemes.”

He added: “Our bespoke, outcomes-focused investment framework enables us to design strategies that align with each scheme’s long-term objectives.”
