Howell to succeed Gubert at HSBC

Banking group HSBC has named Tim Howell to take over as global head of its securities services business from John Gubert, who is retiring.
“HSBC has appointed Tim Howell as head of global transaction banking, financial institutions, which includes the additional role of global head of HSBC Securities Services,” the bank said.
Howell, 45, will succeed Gubert who is retiring at the end of 2006 after 27 years with the group. He’s been head of HSBC Securities Services since 1993.
Howell has worked at HSBC since 1986 in a number of roles, including head of group liability and asset management as well as group treasurer.
“Tim’s background in liability and risk management in the securities and markets businesses will help us provide a more seamless set of products and services,” said global transaction banking head Iain Stewart.
“He will lead our financial institutions business which offers global markets execution engines, collateral management, credit, distribution and banking services.”
