JP Morgan Chase investment chief retires

US – Ramon de Oliveira, head of investment management and private banking at JP Morgan Chase is to retire in August.
James Staley, current co-head of the private banking group has been appointed to succeed him in the position.

Staley has worked for JP Morgan for the last 22 years in various positions: between 1989 and 1997 he played a role in setting up the company’s equities business as head of global equity capital markets and syndicate, and head of equity sales and trading.
Following De Oliveira’s move, Maria Elena Lagomasino has been promoted as chairman and chief executive officer of JP Morgan Private Bank.

De Oliveira joined JP Morgan in Paris in 1977 and has had a number of jobs in corporate finance and its global markets businesses before becoming head of global equities in 1991. He was named head of asset management services in 1997.
De Oliveira will remain involved in the boards of American Century, JPMSuisse and Sixty Wall Street Fund.
