UK – Legal and General Investment Management has further bolstered its equity team as it makes a push into active equities.

Adam Holmes will join LGIM’s European equity team on Monday as a senior equity fund manager. He will report to Alia Baig and joins from Credit Suisse Asset Management.

Ashley Reid was also recently appointed as senior UK active equity fund manager. Formerly Reid worked at Lombard Odier, where he was managing UK and pan-European equity portfolios. He reports to Nigel Ridge, senior UK fund manager, who was appointed earlier this year.

LGIM has been expanding its equity team since it named Mark Burgess as head of equities at the beginning of the year. It says it is looking to put more emphasis on active equity management going forward.

“We have a very strong fixed interest team, and a very strong reputation in passive management and we want our active equity portfolio to sit alongside these two achievement,” says a spokesman for LGIM.

LGIM has 124 billion pounds is total assets under management.
