The London CIV has appointed Rob Treich as head of public markets – a new role that will focus on leading and developing the pool’s investments across listed equities, fixed income, and multi-asset funds.

The new role supports ongoing enhancements to the London CIV investment team – Yiannis Vairamis joined in July 2021 as senior portfolio manager, and Vanessa Shia joined in 2020 as head of private markets.

More recently, Pruthvi Odedra and Umer Nazir progressed into portfolio manager roles covering private markets and fixed income, respectively, to further enhance the responsibilities and capabilities of the team.

Treich has more than 20 years of experience in the pensions, investment management and consulting industries.

He has worked with a wide range of stakeholders and partners in a variety of roles, most recently as the director of investment solutions at Coal Pension Trustees (CPT).

In that role, he was responsible for implementing investment strategy across the global public and private asset markets for two substantial pension schemes.

Prior to joining CPT, Treich worked as a senior researcher at investment consulting firms and as an equity portfolio manager.

“This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of London CIV’s investment practice and the achievement of shareholder goals,” he said in a statement.

Mike O’Donnell, chief executive officer of the London CIV, said Treich’s appointment was a “key milestone in consolidating a strong investment team that will enable us to continue to effectively manage and develop our portfolio of funds, in partnership with our 32 client funds”.
