ITALY – Mefop, the Rome-based society established to promote the development of pension funds in Italy, has entered into a joint venture with Anglo-American performance measurement and research group, Russell Mellon Analytical Services to produce a complete evaluation of the players in the fledgling Italian supplementary pension fund market.

Mefop says the main objective of the venture is to put in place a rigorous performance measurement tool that will allow the industry to be evaluated on a regular basis.

A spokesman for Mefop says the industry in Italy is moving at such as pace that ongoing performance measurement and evaluation will ensure that high standards can be maintained.

“With millions of workers expected to take out new pensions in the coming years and pension fund assets expected to rise dramatically at the same time, performance measurement and evaluation of the industry will be vital to ensure high levels of service, not just for scheme members but for the pension funds themselves from their asset managers,” he says.
