SPAIN - Jacint Tío responsible for marketing with Mercer Human Resources Spain, has left the company “to explore new professionals trends”.

Tío moved from the Mercer Investment Consulting practice, which he headed, to Mercer’s human resources business two years ago. Ignasi Puigdollers replaced him as head of practice.

Tío‘s marketing responsibilities have been taken over in January by Rafael Martines, chief officer at Mercer’s Barcelona office and his Madrid counterpart, Alberto Puente, Puigdollers told IPE. It is not immediately clear how Tío’s career will shape in the future.

He has been judge and supporter of the annual IPE Awards since inception, joining both the Spanish and European Judge Panels. Puigdollers will replace him in both panels in 2005.

Puente, who has been heading the Madrid office for the last four years, told IPE that the transition was going smoothly.

Martines and Puente have split responsibilities in external and internal communications.

Last November, Mercer’s parent firm, Marsh McLennan Companies, said retirement revenues were flat in the third quarter of 2004 and that would 3,000 jobs would be cut globally.
