UK/NORDIC- Mercer Investment Consulting has appointed Hanne Hother as a senior investment consultant for the Nordic region. Based in London, she will develop the investment consulting services in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

She will also be involved in manager research in the Nordic region. Hother joins Mercers from Skandia where she was a pooled funds account manager for Danish clients. Between 1997 to 2000, she held a similar position at Alfred Berg Asset Management in Denmark.

Mercers closed its investment consulting in Stockholm two years ago citing unprofitability. The move was around the time of its plum appointment by the 7th AP Fund to select managers and was met with disappointment by many.

Hother joins a three-strong Nordic team headed by the London-based Divyesh Hindocha. Klaus Stoltenberg is head of Mercers in Denmark and is only partly involved in the investment consulting.

Following the closure of the Stockholm division, there was no local investment consulting division. This, says Hindocha, is likely to change. “What we have decided to do is to have Hanne here to start off with so she can be part of a bigger family.

“Once she’s fully trained up she’ll be the springboard for building up the team. In the long term we anticipate having a team in the Nordic region dedicated to investment consulting.”
