Tributes are flowing in following the untimely death of Antonio Nardacci, chairman of Fondoposte.
Nardacci had been chairman of the pension fund for Italian postal workers for almost eight and a half years, in addition to holding board positions at Assodire, the Association of Responsible Investors, and the Italian Pensions Association Assofondipensione.
He held a degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Naples Federico II.
Earlier this year, IPE spoke with Nardacci in Vienna, where he was attending the AGM meeting of the LGT Group, which manages the pension fund’s private markets portfolio.
At the time, Nardacci cited the high ‘membership rate’ of the fund for employees of Poste Italiane, the Italian postal service provider, as one of his main achievements.
“Now we are in a phase where the new employees join without us actually asking them to join,” he told IPE.
In a statement released on the pension fund’s website, Fondoposte said: “A figure of great human and professional depth, [Nardacci] led the fund with vision, balance, and a sense of responsibility, making a significant contribution to the growth of supplementary pension plans for Poste Italiane employees.
“His leadership, always characterised by transparency and dialogue, left an indelible mark on the Fondoposte community and the Italian pension sector.”
