Railpen – The £36bn railways pension schemes serving over 350,000 members in the UK, governed by the Railways Pension Trustee Company and managed by Railpen, have announced the appointment of Richard Murray as chair of the trustee board.

Murray succeeds Christine Kernoghan, who became the first female chair of Railpen’s trustee board in 2022 and will remain a trustee director following the transition.

The appointment follows a planned handover period to ensure continuity of leadership and governance.

Murray has served as a trustee director since 2019 and is stepping down as a non-executive director of Railpen, a role he has held since 2022. In addition to his responsibilities on the trustee board, he has held several roles in the pensions industry over 30 years, most recently as group pensions director at FirstGroup. Through these roles, he has developed extensive experience in pension scheme governance, funding and member outcomes.

TPT Retirement Solutions – The UK-based provider of workplace pensions has appointed Geoff Tookey as head of trustee services.

In his role, Tookey will lead TPT’s trustee services team, which supports Verity Trustees Limited in overseeing its portfolio of pension schemes. He will also work closely with the new trustee boards supporting TPT’s collective defined contribution (CDC) and superfund propositions, helping to establish strong relationships and effective ways of working as these solutions develop.

Tookey’s appointment comes as TPT continues to broaden the range of pension solutions available to schemes and employers. He will play a key role in ensuring the CDC and superfund trustee boards receive coordinated support from across TPT, helping them to make well-informed decisions and maintain a strong focus on positive long-term member outcomes.

Tookey brings more than 20 years of experience, joining from Bank of America where he was head of pensions for UK and Ireland. Following pension consulting roles at WTW and KPMG, he moved to O2 as pensions and benefits manager, later progressing to head of pensions at Virgin Media O2.

Danica – Frederik Sjørslev Søgaard, IT director at Tryg Forsikring, will join Danica as chief operating officer on 1 November. He will also join Danica’s executive board as a member.

At Tryg Forsikring, Sjørslev Søgaard held several senior positions over the past 10 years. He was most recently IT director, and before that he was, among other roles, commercial director at Tryg Privat, director of Alka Forsikring and for Tryg’s claims handling in Denmark.

Sjørslev Søgaard replaces Jesper Bjerre, who resigned from Danica in mid-August.

Invesco – The firm has announced that Ian Hargreaves, co-head of Asia and emerging market equities, will be retiring from the firm after a 32-year career, as of 31 March 2027.

Effective 1 January 2027, leadership and named-manager changes will take effect across several affected funds. Hargreaves will remain with Invesco until 31 March 2027, continuing to work closely with the team and supporting client engagement. He will continue as co-manager on the Invesco Asia Dragon Trust, alongside lead co-manager Fiona Yang and Mark Ye until 31 March 2027.

William Lam remains co-head of the team. Charles Bond will become co-head on 1 January 2027. The investment philosophy, process and portfolio construction framework remain unchanged.

DEVK Pensionsfonds – The pension fund for the employees of German railway company Deutsche Bahn has appointed Oliver Wagner and Christoph Kürz as new members of the executive board, effective 1 October.

On the board, Wagner will assume responsibility for sales and  Kürz for operations, actuarial, and IT divisions.

Wagner and Kürz succeed Michael Zons and Lutz Lammert, respectively. Zons is stepping down from his position to focus on the “clients” portfolio, while Lammert will focus on his role as the responsible actuary at the Pensionsfonds.
