PGGM strategy head De Vrij joins ABP
NETHERLANDS – PGGM’s head of strategy and research, Gerlof De Vrij, has left the €60bn health care fund to work on a project for civil service scheme Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP.
De Vrij was at PGGM – Holland’s second largest pension fund - for 21 months. He started at ABP – the world’s largest scheme - on August 15.
De Vrij follows on the heels of former PGGM investment chief Roderick Munsters, who left to become chairman of ABP Investments on March 1 this year.
Munsters was replaced by Else Bos, who was director of third-party management, operations and staff at PGGM Investments.
According to ABP spokesperson Michel Meijs, De Vrij will not be working closely with Munsters.
He is currently working on an internal project in the investment department until the end of the year.
Although no further details about this project could be disclosed, Meijs confirmed that De Vrij’s position at ABP would be cemented after this initial period.
